It was 10 p.m. on Tuesday May 3rd, I was sitting at my computer putting some last minute edits to some photos when I received a message from Ana saying that she was being admitted to the hospital. I was a little shocked, this was 3 weeks earlier than her due date.
But hey, I was ready. I immediately charged my batteries, got my cf cards and gear ready. I tried to get a few hours of sleep but of course it was a bit tough knowing that at any time I could be getting the call! Around 3 a.m I got a message with an update and at 6 a.m. another message from Jimmy saying that the nurses said it was close to the time of delivery. I arrived at the hospital at 7 a.m. to the image below. Ana had been at this all night and of course was exhausted, I don’t even think she noticed I was there. I stayed in the corner, out of everyone’s way trying to capture whatever I can.
When Ana began pushing I was in awe of how much strength a woman possesses to push through the pain to deliver their child.
This was Ana and Jimmy’s first child and they had decided to leave the gender of their first baby a surprise….it was a boy!
I would like to introduce you to Alexander John Bastas born at May 4th, 2016 at 8:49am, 7lbs1oz 19inches.
Jimmy was immediately in love..
After I left the delivery room I felt so lucky that this was my job. To get to see such a beautiful loving family welcome a new member into their family is such a privilege. Thank you Ana and Jimmy for including me through your journey! Stay tuned to Alexander’s newborn photos next 😉
