I didn’t know what to expect when Syreta asked me to photograph her event she titled, Take me to the King, but I’m definitely glad I was there.
The speakers included. Tanika A. Chambers, Marlene McKenzie, Kim Davis, Kim Thomas and Reverend Rider. Each women gave their testimony on the obstacles that they’ve experienced in their life, and how they overcame them.
Although each women’s story was different, they were all compelling and demonstrated the strength that each one of them possess. Not only were they able to overcome the obstacles that life had set before them, but they used what they learned to inspire others to do the same.
Sometimes we ask ourselves why us, the speakers that afternoon offered a unique perspective, why not us. The hardest times in life, usually teaches the most profound lessons and shape us in a way that could not have been possible otherwise.
The next time you’re going through something difficult, understand that is up to you to determine how you come out of it, use the experience to become more humble, wise, determined, strong, and motivated to help others to do the same.
As I was writing this post I remembered a blog that I read from Jasmine Star, which you can read here. http://www.jasminestarblog.com/index.cfm?catID=5&StartRow=21. It mentioned the Japanese art of kintsukuro.
